A Ballerina Tea Party benefiting The Susquehanna Youth Ballet

Recently, some members of the Susquehanna Youth Ballet (SYB) hosted a community Ballerina Tea Party, in which the ballerinas played dress-up with the girls, shared some tea and cakes, performed for the audience and then danced with the attendees. Click on any of the pictures to see the entire collection of photos from the day.

The event was held in the studios of Experimental Movement Concepts (EMC) in New Freedom, Pa., the host studio for the SYB dance company.

The lower studio was transformed by The Enchanted Teapot from East York, Pa. into a little girls dream dining room, complete with pink and white table linens, cloth napkins, dress-up clothes, cakes, cookies, as well as, of course, tea, served in floral teacups from beautifully decorative tea sets.  The SYB dancers, dressed in their costumes, shared treats with the aspiring ballerina's, then went into an upper studio to perform and as a special treat, shared a short lesson with the girls.  These little ones looked so pretty in their tea party dresses but were equally excited to dance.  It was fun to watch and my pleasure to photograph some of these precious moments of the day.

The Susquehanna Youth Ballet is a pre-professional training program and performing company under the direction of Ashley Spears. This rigorous training and performing program provides serious dance students with the opportunity to study classical and contemporary

dance in a professional environment.  The company recently was a finalist and competed in New York City for the prestigious Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP).  Their next performance will be Peter and the Wolf with West Side Story Medley held on May 10th at 2:00pm at St James Academy in Monkton, Maryland.  For more information and tickets, visit: http://danceemc.com.
